We’re on the lookout for a reliable, flexible HGV Multi-Skilled Driver to join the team here at Aardvark. If you’re the kind of driver who gets bored doing the same route day in and day out, this is the role for you. No two days are the same, the work is genuinely varied, and you’ll be operating some seriously good kit.
Aardvark is a growing haulage and plant business based in Devon, working across the South West and beyond. Our fleet covers everything from Class 1 artics to grab lorries, tippers, low loaders, and specialist vehicles. That variety is one of the best things about working here. You could be shifting aggregates one day, running plant on the low loader the next, and out on a grab job the day after. It keeps the work interesting and it keeps your skills sharp.
The role
This is a multi-skilled driving position, which means you’ll be moving between vehicle types depending on what’s needed. Depending on the day, that could include:
- Class 1 artics on general haulage and bulk work
- Class 2 rigids across a range of applications
- Grab lorries for aggregates, muck away, and site clearance
- Other specialist vehicles as the work demands
You’ll potentially work from different depots depending on where the day’s jobs are running from, so a flexible attitude and a willingness to move around is important. In return, you get proper variety and the chance to develop skills across a wider range of vehicles than most driving jobs would ever give you.
What we’re looking for
The essentials are straightforward:
- Valid Class 1 and Class 2 HGV licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Flexible attitude and willingness to work across different sites
- Professional, reliable approach with good customer-facing skills
Experience loading and unloading plant is a bonus but not essential. Same goes for grab lorry experience. If you’ve got it, great. If not, we’ll help you build it. What matters more is that you show up when you say you will, look after the kit, and represent the business properly when you’re on customer sites.
